This Buy it Now auction is for an old United States Government issue Sun Hat Pith Helmet that is based on the Model 1940 Helmet, Fiber Tropical. This white plastic pith helmet is Late 20th Century to Early 21st Century. The United Stated Postal Service uses plastic pith helmets like this one in either white or blue plastic. The United States Marine Corps also uses this same type of plastic pith helmet in the Iraq / Afghanistan War era of the Early 21st Century. I believe these pith helmets were made to be one size fits all. The chin strap part has the elastic stretched out. This pith helmet is old, and in Used Condition with wear damage from use. There are some dirt stains, scratches, dents, oxidation to the metal parts, paint loss, and sun fading. These items are both damaged from having been used, and damaged from being old. Time slowly destroys old things. It is no longer in the condition that it was in the day it was manufactured .
I show some reference book photos that have information about these
types of Military issue pith helmets. Also, the reference photos show
Gomez Addams wearing a WW2 Surplus pith helmet in the 1960s TV show "The
Addams Family". The reference photos also show hundreds of Marines
wearing WW2 pith helmets in the 1943 film "Gung Ho!". There are also reference photos of Federal Postal Mail delivery personal, and Marine Corps soldiers, using this type of white plastic pith helmet. The reference
