Collectibles / Militaria / WW I (1914-18) / Original Period Items / Germany / Hats & Helmets
This is an original model 1918 "Cut-out" helmet. (The Germans referred to it as a "special model M1918") It is an original shell that has been stripped and painted in special mixed feldgrau color. Then it was painted in a three-color camouflage pattern which closely matches originals. The liner is an aged reproduction. Original M18 Cut-Outs were all manufactured by Eisenhuettenwerke Thale A.G., Thale /Harz and were size 64. This helmet is marked E.T. 64 on lower left scallop and is correct for an original helmet. The heat stamps of all original "Cut-out" helmets should have 6 characters and typically starts with R indicating steel mill Stahlwerk Röchling,Volkingen. The steel lot numbers from Röchling run bewteen R1700N and R1900N. There are NO standard helmets found with these lot numbers. This helmet has a lot number of R1827 which verifies beyond all doubt, it is a correct and original, untampered M18 "cut-out". The shell is 100% guaranteed original pre-1919. It has been repainted/restored with a reproduction liner. Again, the shell is 100% guaranteed pre-1919.I am listing several lots this week. I will combine postage. If you win more than one, I will send you an invoice.
