Also during shipping the vent was damaged but was replaced with a brand new OEM diffuser as pictured.

Ram Air Intake - The Spec 1R Extreme comes standard with this new cooling device. Located above the top of the forehead, this specially designed intake duct forces air into the helmet body in the open position, pressurizing cool air into the Spec 1R's unique waffled EPS channeled system. Flipping the switch to the off position on the Intake Duct closes the ram air intake from the rest of the system.

Air Wedge Top Diffuser - An extreme helmet deserves an extreme top diffuser and the new, Suomy Air Wedge is just that: designed to work in concert with the Ram Air Intake duct, the Air Wedge performs the duty of extracting hot air from the helmet body and out the back of the wedge. Its aggressive design provides a further function; the Air Wedge creates vortices towards the back of the helmet, defeating the potential for helmet lift at high speeds providing an extremely stable helmet, even at Daytona speeds.

Russell had an unsuccessful spell racingHarley-Davidsonbikes in the AMA Superbike championship during his later years. His final year in AMA Superbike ended at the first race of 2001 at Daytona after a move to the HMCDucatiteam.
Ducati had high hopes that "Mr. Daytona" would help them achieve their first ever 200 win. However, during the start, Russell's bike stalled and was hit from behind after trying to move out of the way to the side of the track.
Russell suffered severe injuries which ultimately ended his two-wheeled career. In 2005, Russell was inducted into the AMAMotorcycle Hall of Fame.Scott returned to the highbanks of Daytona in 2008 on a Jamie James prepared Yamaha R1. Russell began serving as lead motorcycle road racing analyst for SPEED TV in May 2009, replacing Freddie Spencer whose European scheduling conflicts led to the change.
