*The surface of the helmet is covered with a very bad yellowish-clear runny paint job to avoid surface damage after so many years stored (shown in pictures). I recommend a light sanding and polishing to make it look like chrome, unless you want to stain it.
*I'm no expert in steel gauges, that's why I prefer to measure all 3 parts separate with a caliper in millimeters for more accuracy (shown in pictures). The spot shown are the ones that make the caliper close without gaps. **My head circumference: 21 inches** Inside Depth: 10.5 inches Height from center: 11 inches Helmet's total weight: 9 lb. and 6.7 oz. Other openings measurements are in pictures. Steel parts thickness Front piece: 2.57mm (thickness) or 10.1 gauge Head piece: 2.66mm (thickness) or 10.5 gauge Neck cover: 1.91mm (thickness) or 15.4 gauge
(Brief history)
This helmet was made in 2008 by Shannon, a member of The Citadel of the Southern Pass; branch of the SCA in El Paso, Texas. Never got to use it because before made my armor, I moved and so far, all the places I've been, doesn't have a close SCA. I have been taken the best care I can ever since, but is time from me to pass it to someone that is willing to give it the well deserved adventures that never had. My head measures 21 inches (I'm 5' 4"), this helmet was not initially design to use with chin strap (you can change that), just thigh padding (push in/pull out). Also has no padding, that should be made with your own dimensions.
I was told that this helmet can potentially be adjusted to heavy fighting tournaments because of it overall thickness. As is, can take hits from any SCA weapon made with a 3 inch rattan. If you are in to L.A.R.P., I consider this helmet too much protection and weight, but that's not up to me.
The idea of the helmet was inspired by the album of 'Symphony of the Enchanted Lands' from the group Rhapsody; and if you look for it, you will realize that is missing the side wings. The idea was to place them with strong magnets, so before any combat, I take them off, BUT never found anyone who can make them, but hopefully you do. If that happens, please send me pictures!! Any questions??.. just let me know and will do my best to promptly reply you. Thanks in advance for your time.
