FEURWEHR HEADWEAR This original 120-year old fire helmet belonged to a firefighter in the town of Lippe in Rhine Westphalia, Germany. It was manufactured by Carl Henkel in Bielefeld circa 1900. The design is the epitome of German helmet design, bearing a marked similarity to military helmets of the period. The front and back brims are identical but for the gold rim on the front one. The dome is distinguished by a silver tone circular medallion mounted on a dramatic 3-D gold starburst pattern which is complemented by a gold high-ridged piece mounted on top that's reminiscent of a "Mohawk". Just amazing! The condition is equally amazing as the owner and his descendents preserved this precious keepsake for almost 1 1/4 century in almost pristine condition. Not one impairment, unlike so many helmets offered on eBay. Just imagine the action this helmet must have seen! 11"- 12" from front to back brims (edge to edge).
