A very unique, combat used, Quist M40 German helmet. Nice large 66 size with a lot number of 7731.
Shell is in perfect condition with crisp stamps. No dents, no holes, no putty used anywhere. There is some very light surface rust on the inside of the shell, which I decided to leave alone not wanting to damage the original paint, but there is absolutely no pitting, or imperfections of any kind. Just German WW2 steel and paint.
There is no liner.
Color is a light gray-green and the paint is heavily textured. The light color makes me think Kriegsmarine, but there is no way to know for sure. The helmet just oozes character. So much to look at and the chipped finish is gorgeous. It would look amazing on someone’s display shelf.
