This is a brand new Genuine Harley-Davidson helmet, with the Troy Lee Jester design that Pascal Picotte always used on his race helmets. Size Large.
In the '90s Harley-Davidson re-entered the world of roadracing, and campaigned their VR1000 Superbike against the fastest manufaturers in the world. In '98 they stole Pascal Picotte from Yamaha to be their #1 rider. With Picotte came his Troy Lee designed Jester helmet, which he wore in every race aboard the Harley VR1000.
In '99 they released the design to the public, on this helmet which was only sold by Harley-Davidson dealerships, and in very limited quantities. I don't remember what the helmet originally sold for, but it was expensive, and I think our dealership only got 1 to sell (this one).
I was the Harley dealer at the time, which is how I wound up with this helmet. I used it as part of a charity auction, and afterwards I brought it home (it may have been on my head a little while at the auction). It has been sitting in a helmet bag in my garage, untouched, ever since.
Harley wanted the design on a top quality helmet, so they had them made by Shoei, the same manufacturer who made Picotte's race helmets. The quality is excellent thoughout. Notice the visor — unlike all the generic visors on half and three-quarters helmets, Shoei designed this visor specifically for this helmet, with a top contour designed to show off the painted design at the front of the helmet.
The helmet is perfect. The colors are still vibrant, there are no nicks, scratches, or anything else. The liner and skirt are perfect. I still think it's one of the coolest designs ever. This may be the only Harley-Davidson Jester helmet anywhere in this condition . . . make me an offer.
