CLEVELAND BROWNS original MARIETTA Kineomatic-21 Clear Shell Suspension helmet. This helmet is original. The helmet has an original warranty decal on the interior with a datecode of 1973! This is a very rare helmet. Most likely, you have never seen one before. If you know helmets, you know what this is. If you know or collect clear shell helmets, you know what this is. If you are a Cleveland Browns fan, you may not know what this is - but trust me, pay attention from now on - but you will still never see another one.
The shell, the leather padding, the Schutt NOPO facemask are all original to the helmet and are from 1973. This is an awesome helmet. This helmet has the striping on the outside of the helmet. Marietta produced helmets with decals on the outside and on the interior of the helmet. Same with the striping. Some helmets have the stripes on the interior and the logo decals on the outside of the helmet. It has the Marietta decals on the rear - under the shell.
The stripes are adherred to the helmet very well - for 44 years old. Nothing has been done to this helmet. You will see the Velcro adhesive of the padding - starting to bleed a bit through the paint. This is common in older Marietta helmets. We have sold some others - including a Rams and Saints that have had the same bleeding effect. The helmet has the original factory paint - including the original factory interior gray paint. The helmet was sent back to Marietta for reconditioning and never returned to the team. The jawpads are included in the helmet. Actual leather Marietta jawpads. We have had collectors offer to purchase both the interior padding as well as the jawpads from our Marietta helmets. Many times, these helmets are missing the interior padding. The leather padding when new was very stiff - so when a set was broken in by a player - they tended to keep the padding and put it in the new helmet that they were issued. Hence the old helmet was discarded or given away with no padding in them. Same with the jawpads. To find an original Marietta NFL helmet with the padding and jawpads is very rare indeed. There are no player numbers or identifiers on the exterior of the helmet, and no player identifiers on the inside. Heck, that is the most fun for me is trying to determine who's helmet it belonged to and trying to find a match. The helmet was sourced originally by a long time employee of Marietta.
