This is a pith helmet made by Robets Naval Tailor 4 & 6 Bury Street St James's London most likely 1900 to 1920 period. The spike is removable and screws inside for packing and shipping. Comes in its original metal carrying case with padlock and key (working), with faux tortoiseshell finish. It travelled to various points in South America with its owner including Valparaiso and Buenos Aires, its owner most likely a naval attache or otherwise attached to a British foreign office post .
