Black Glass Achilles Cameos w/ Winged Dragon on Helmet Sweater Clips, Collar Brooch, Jacket Closure, Faux Pearl Settings on Black & Gold Crystal Beads These beautiful intaglios are carved below the surface not above surface like cameos. These are intaglios of Achilles as "Antique Cameos" says: "This is a Museum Quality cameo depicting Achilles the Greek hero of Troy as a beautiful youth. This fabulous subject is wonderfully carved on framed with a simple gold ring frame. ..Look at the WINGED DRAGON on the top of Achilles' helmet, simply amazing. His curly hair, the face carved on the front of the helmet, everything is masterly rendered in this fabulous cameo which can't be missed. Achilles is here depicted in all of his beauty. His facial features are more feminine than masculine but, according to the legend, he was so handsome,  that he could look almost as a beautiful girl. A real treat for any collector. A bit of History In Greek mythology, Achilles was a Greek hero of the Trojan War, the central character and the greatest warrior of Homer's Iliad. Legends state that Achilles was invulnerable in all of his body except for his heel. ..that Achilles was semi-immortal, however his heel was vulnerable. " 1950's Gold Highlighted Black Intaglios w/ gold faux pearl settings are 1 1/3" x 1". These were originally large heavy Winged back earrings. If you've ever seen wing backed they are heavy, wire is 4 times the size or other wires for earrings and very difficult to use. So I took the wing back off and added clips with crystal faceted black, Vintage black & gold crystal beads on beading wire for connectors. Altogether Sweater clips are 9" wide & 1 1/2"tall.
